Effective date: 21 July 2026 16h53 BST
Web revision token: G200-v1.01-20260722T1017-BST
Operating standard: G000 CORE 10 applies to every G200 proposition, ratio, principle, quote and transposition task.
1. PURPOSE
G200 is the universal source-to-proposition register for reusable propositions of law, case-specific ratios, binding principles of law, obiter, dissent, derived propositions, controlled quotations, pinpoints, limitations, adverse treatment, review status and principle transposition.
G200 records what the primary source says, the competence and status of that source, the proposition that may properly be stated from it, the reason and classification supporting that proposition, and the limits on its use.
G200 does not turn a party submission, headnote, editorial summary, institutional practice, remembered quotation, AI output or desired consequence into law.
2. PAGE BOUNDARY
| Control | Function | Excluded consequence |
|---|---|---|
| G000 | Universal methodology, Appendix A, governance, release and case-adoption control. | Case-specific proposition application or bundle approval. |
| G100 | Canonical judicial-decision source, provenance and neutral documentary navigation. | Verified proposition, ratio, binding-principle or later-case application. |
| G200 | Universal proposition, ratio, binding-principle, obiter, dissent, derived-proposition, quotation, limitation and transposition control. | Later-case facts, proof, remedy selection or Bundle Approved status. |
| C30 | Case-selected authority, factual predicates, application, rival analysis, procedural use, remedy bridge and bundle control. | Direct amendment of G200 or silent universal promotion. |
3. CORE RULE AND APPENDIX A CONTROL
CORE RULE | Truth first. Source first. Evidence first. Ratio/reason first. Reasons first. Consequence last.
APPENDIX A CONTROL | Appendix A is the controlling juridical baseline. Orthodoxy, commentary, institutional practice, office, repetition, label, obiter or convenience does not displace it.
Any proposed departure must identify the exact higher or later binding authority, or applicable lawfully enacted text, which governs and actually displaces the relevant Appendix A proposition, together with the operative text or ratio, hierarchy, material facts, scope, juridical reason, effective date and downstream delta.
A material distinction limits application. It does not silently erase or displace the parent principle.
4. RECORD CLASSES AND STABLE IDENTIFIERS
| Identifier | Class | Controlled meaning |
|---|---|---|
| G200-P###### | Proposition of law | Source-attributed proposition advanced or verified from enacted text, judgment, custom or another recognised legal source. |
| G200-R###### | Case-specific ratio | Legal reason adopted as necessary to decide the issue on the material facts. |
| G200-B###### | Binding principle of law | Principle extracted from a binding ratio at no greater generality than the source, issue, facts and necessary reason support. |
| G200-O###### | Obiter / dissent | Judicial proposition not necessary to the decision, or a separate dissent/concurrence; preserved but not binding. |
| G200-D###### | Derived proposition | Reasoned synthesis, abstraction or juridical proposition not yet adopted as necessary reasoning at that level of generality. |
| G200-X###### | Transposition record | Controlled parity-of-reason assessment for direct application, analogy, distinction or rejection in another legal setting. |
| G200-Q###### | Quotation record | Exact quotation, pinpoint, source format, alterations and material-context control. |
Identifiers are permanent and must never be reused. Changed wording, reclassification, rejection or supersession must preserve the parent record and identify the successor or reason.
5. REQUIRED SOURCE AND RECORD FIELDS
Every G200 record must identify, so far as applicable:
- stable record ID and class;
- neutral title and proposition wording;
- topic and jurisdiction;
- source class and source-control reference;
- authority or instrument title and citation;
- court, level, maker or judicial author;
- decision or instrument date;
- procedural stage;
- official source URL and canonical G100 reference where applicable;
- exact text, quotation or pinpoint;
- material facts and legal issue where judgment-derived;
- legal source and reason necessary to decision;
- case-specific ratio;
- binding principle and justified level of generality;
- obiter, dissent and derived propositions;
- preconditions, material predicates, scope, limits and exceptions;
- adverse, conflicting and later authority;
- Appendix A consistency or exact lawful displacement;
- verification status, verifier, date and review trigger; and
- C30 links only, without later-case application text.
6. SOURCE CLASSES AND SOURCE COMPETENCE
| Source class | Meaning | Required control |
|---|---|---|
| LEX-SCRIPTA | Constitutional enactment, Act, delegated instrument, rule, practice direction or other enacted text. | Official source, historical version, commencement, extent, amendments, savings and enabling authority. |
| LEX-NON-SCRIPTA | Common law and lawful custom. | Primary report/judgment/source materials, legal reason, hierarchy and later treatment. |
| JUDGMENT | Official or approved judicial decision controlled in G100. | G100 ID, source URL, court, stage, issue, material facts and necessary reason. |
| COURT-ORDER | Judicial order or companion disposition. | Order source, jurisdiction, relationship to reasons and legal effect. |
| PREROGATIVE | Crown authority recognised, defined and limited by the law of the land. | Exact source, field, conditions, limits and any statutory occupation/displacement. |
| CUSTOM | Lawful custom relied upon as a legal source. | Existence, scope, continuity, certainty, reasonableness and proof. |
| SECONDARY-CANDIDATE | Commentary, headnote, article, submission or summary identifying a possible proposition. | Candidate only; cannot supply final verified law without primary-source confirmation. |
No source class proves another. A derivative authority or instrument cannot exceed the competence, field, conditions or limits of its lawful source.
7. PROPOSITION OF LAW → RATIO → BINDING PRINCIPLE
A proposition of law is a reasoned and source-attributed legal proposition advanced or verified from a recognised legal source.
A proposition stated in a judgment becomes part of the case-specific ratio only where the court adopts it as the legal reason necessary to decide the issue on the material facts.
The binding principle of law is extracted from that ratio at no greater level of generality than the source, issue, material facts and necessary juridical reason support, and binds according to the hierarchy of the deciding court.
The inter partes disposition is not the ratio. A headnote is not the ratio. A quotation is not the ratio merely because it is important.
8. ENACTED TEXT AND JUDICIAL CONSTRUCTION
An enacted rule binds by force of its lawful source and does not await judicial confirmation.
Record the exact text, instrument, enabling authority, commencement, extent, amendments, savings and historically applicable version.
A judicial interpretation or application of enacted text may form part of a ratio and must be separately classified.
Do not merge enacted wording, judicial construction and later-case application into one proposition.
9. OBITER, DISSENT AND DERIVED PROPOSITIONS
Obiter is not binding and cannot displace Appendix A or a binding ratio.
Dissent and separate reasoning are preserved and may be persuasive or later adopted, but are not the majority ratio merely because they are logically powerful.
A derived proposition is a reasoned synthesis, abstraction or juridical proposition not yet adopted as necessary judicial reasoning at that level of generality.
Persuasive weight, logical coherence and binding force are separate controls.
10. PRINCIPLE TRANSPOSITION
Ratio legis est anima legis and ubi eadem ratio ibi idem jus operate only through a recorded parity-of-reason test.
The transposition record must identify:
- the parent proposition, ratio or binding principle;
- the original actor, legal person, capacity, right or power, duty, purpose and material predicates;
- the proposed later legal setting and source classes;
- the same juridical reason and retained predicates;
- material differences and whether they justify distinction;
- statutory occupation, displacement, supplementation or saving;
- adverse and contrary authority; and
- the result: direct application, approved analogy, limited analogy, distinguished, rejected or source-blocked.
The maxims do not permit unrestricted abstraction from a result, label, office, institutional practice, superficial factual resemblance or desired consequence.
11. STATUTORY DISPLACEMENT AND SUPPLEMENTATION
Where statutory displacement or supplementation is asserted, identify the pre-existing source, the exact statute or delegated instrument, the same power or legal field, express wording or necessary implication, inconsistency, conditions, safeguards, remedies, commencement, savings and temporal reach.
De Keyser is confined to the corresponding prerogative/statutory field. It does not create an unrestricted rule that every statute extinguishes all common law.
Where enacted text is neutral, do not invent displacement or supplementation.
12. PUBLIC-POWER PEDIGREE AND NEGATIVE-SOURCE DISCIPLINE
Every asserted coercive, compulsory or intrusive power must identify the actor, legal person, office or capacity, source class, exact instrument or power, jurisdiction, purpose, conditions, procedure, limits and every factual predicate.
Positive lawful authority and every condition must be proved. Office, practice, repetition, confidence, convenience or institutional status cannot supply a power not found in law.
Where asserted authority cannot be found in the books, the silence of the books operates against the person asserting the power.
13. RIGHT / WRONG / CAUSE / DAMAGE / REMEDY
For every asserted legal consequence, identify:
- the right, interest or power and its holder;
- the corresponding duty;
- the alleged wrong or breach;
- the recognised cause of action or review route;
- the required mental element;
- causation;
- actionable damage, prejudice or actionability per se;
- the remedy source;
- defences, discretion and limits.
A statutory breach or legal error does not, without more, establish a civil cause of action, damages, nullity, invalidity or another remedy.
There is one legal order. Do not divide principles into separate public and private grades. Continue to distinguish source, personality and capacity, power or right, duty, cause, procedure, proof and remedy.
14. PROCEDURAL-STAGE CLASSIFICATION
Record the permission, interim, strike-out, summary-judgment, trial, appeal, remedy or other procedural stage.
Record the applicable threshold, assumed facts, issue decided, necessary reason, outcome and later status.
Do not promote a threshold, provisional or permission-stage observation into a final merits determination without source and issue support.
15. QUOTATION AND PINPOINT CONTROL
Every quotation and pinpoint must be checked against the primary text.
Record paragraph, page, section, rule, schedule or source location; source format; OCR use; verifier and verification date.
Do not conceal a material qualification through shortening. Disclose ellipses, brackets, translations, editorial corrections and added emphasis.
A verified quotation is not automatically ratio or a binding principle.
16. CURRENT LAW, LATER TREATMENT AND ADVERSE AUTHORITY
For legislation and rules, check commencement, amendment, repeal, extent, savings and historical applicability.
For judgments, check appeal, reversal, overruling, doubt, distinction, approval and later appellate treatment.
Where reliable sources disagree, record each position, hierarchy, factual setting and limitation. Weak, adverse, incomplete and inconsistent authorities remain preserved and classified.
17. VERIFICATION LADDER
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Candidate | Wording or issue captured; primary source and classification incomplete. |
| Primary source located | Exact source identified and opened. |
| Primary text checked | Operative text, judgment or instrument verified. |
| Source status checked | Hierarchy, currency, commencement, later treatment and source competence checked. |
| Classification checked | Enacted rule, proposition, ratio, binding principle, obiter, dissent, derived or transposition status checked. |
| Pinpoint / quotation checked | All cited locations and quotations verified against the primary source. |
| Limits / adverse treatment checked | Predicates, limits, exceptions, distinctions and contrary authority recorded. |
| Universal Verified | All mandatory universal checks complete. Does not mean case-specific Bundle Approved. |
| Suspended | Use paused pending source, appeal, amendment, conflict or review. |
| Superseded | Replaced by a controlled successor while preserving the earlier record. |
| Rejected | Not accepted as a valid universal proposition; reason and source basis preserved. |
STATUS BOUNDARY | Universal Verified does not mean Bundle Approved for a particular case. C30 and the relevant case-specific Chat 05 must still verify relevance, context, citation, remedy and bundle use.
18. G100 → G200 → C30 / UAP WORKFLOW
The controlled route is:
Primary source located → canonical judgment stored or linked in G100 where applicable → candidate G200 record opened → primary text, source competence, stage, classification, pinpoint, limits and later treatment verified → Universal Verified where complete → relevant case selects and applies the authority in C30.
A case proposition may remain case-specific and never be promoted.
Universal promotion requires UAP referral, removal of case-specific contamination, primary-source verification, Appendix A consistency or exact lawful displacement, testing, approval, versioning and controlled release.

21. VERSION, SUPERSESSION, CURRENT POSITION AND UNIVERSAL LINKS
G200 v1.01 is the current effective G200 baseline under UVS-0006 as part of the coordinated UVS-0004 release. It is governed by G000 / MLSP v1.02, uses G100 v1.01 as its canonical judgment-source archive and supersedes G200 v1.00 for active universal proposition and principle control.
POST-ACTIVATION COMPONENT CLOSURE | UFB-0010 and UCH-0016 issue component revision v1.01A so that live status, current URLs, G000 CORE 10, G100 v1.01B references, register filenames, manifests and hashes are internally consistent. The G200 methodology release remains v1.01. Every parent remains preserved.
G200 v1.01 is a structural proposition-classification and record-schema release. It does not silently alter or promote any existing case-specific proposition.
Existing v1.00 files, proposition records and source parents remain preserved. Material changes create successors or rejected/superseded records with reasons.
G200 v1.01 became effective after completion of the following release conditions:
- G000 / MLSP v1.02 is effective;
- G100 v1.01 is effective;
- the candidate page text and links are approved;
- all release files are uploaded without overwriting parents;
- applicable caches are cleared;
- ordinary/private browser and automated retrieval checks are completed;
- all release-critical public downloads hash-match;
- UWR-0006 and UVS-0006 are completed; and
- the project owner records G200 v1.01 effective.
Release of G200 v1.01 does not cause any case to adopt it. Each C00 must separately record adopt, defer or decline and identify every affected C30 record, authority-verification workstream and downstream regression requirement.
